About this site

What is this?

It’s a website!

More specifically, it’s the one we decided to make after long wanting to build something personal without all the expectations of a more “serious” site, and without the limitations of pure static hosting. (This site is entirely static minus the radio stream, but still. Future flexibility and all that.)

It’s also a deliberate exercise in recapturing some of what we loved most about the early internet, along the same lines as many Nekoweb or Neocities pages. No big platforms, no heavy JS libraries, just some cats on their puter banging out the tunes webpages. In other words, this is sort of the site we’d make in the 2000s if we had the tools and skills we have now.

How was it made?

This site is built with:

• Frontend stuff
  • Astro - templating, page transitions, etcetera
  • Svelte - interactivity (i.e. the radio at the bottom of the page)
  • Sass - makes wrangling CSS a bit more manageable
• Server stuff
  • Caddy - hosts static content and acts as a strict reverse proxy for AzuraCast
  • AzuraCast - used to run and manage the internet radio station

The rest is all paw-made by us!
